Cat's Eye Carving
I carried out a 4 year degree in fine art and sculpture followed by an apprenticeship in Stonemasonry at Gloucester Cathedral.
After suffering a career ending injury to my left hand I had to re-access my future as a stonemason and I decided to set up my own business in 2005.
This has given me the opportunity to carry on with my love of stone carving and I have broadened my creative ventures with my own designs of Welsh slate and Sterling Silver jewellery, I create clay models to take casts from and carve wood.
I am inspired by the natural forms of seashells and plants and love carving faces and animals. I use words and letters to create unique hand carved inscriptions and I design and carve swirly sculptures to ornament your home and garden.
I welcome commissions and I can draw out a design or work from your own ideas.
I mainly use Forest of Dean sandstone, Welsh and Cornish slate, Cotswold and French limestone but I am happy to source other types if it suits the carving.
This year I will be completing the new War memorial for Mitcheldean as well as a number of other commissions and new sculptures.
