Elaine Fowke Paintings

I enjoy working in oil paint particularly and I work on a variety of subjects - I don't want to restrict myself to one, I'd rather react to something that pulls me in, contrasts in light and shade are especially enticing. I love being outside and plein air painting is a great way of experiencing a true response the to the landscape - working quickly and making sketches in oils to sometimes work on in the studio.

​I'm also happy when I'm painting animals - my books are open to commissions for pet portraits, it's great when a finished piece is handed to the person and I see how much they love it!
