Marie-Clare Mawle
Marie-Clare has recently relocated to Gloucestershire having moved from London where she worked on fashion and interior magazines as a freelance writer and stylist for many years. Eight years ago with a creative gap to fill, she went back to collage at the weekends and successfully completed an ‘Advanced Textiles’ course at City Lit College, London. Marie-Clare is a member of the textile group ‘Thirteen’. She has been exhibiting with the group in central London for the last seven years.
Marie-Clare’s work takes inspiration from nature, literature and poetry. Her recent work has been inspired by the fragility of flowers, the changes in colour and shape as they start to decay. Her work has been described as sensual but she would say sentimental and feminine. Marie-Clare likes to work with vintage and recycled fabric which she eco-prints, hand-stitches and dyes with flower petals.
