Sarah recreates the wonder of nature by casting everchanging shadows from just hand cut paper and wire, creating illusions of animal behaviour and movement.
She invites you to take a long close look at the unique use of just paper and nylon wire so you can understand the works narrative, how it captures the animals spirt and character and creates illusions of movement. The intriguing shadows thrown by the papercuts intensify the experience further still. It creates a fluid, intangible phenomena.
Her work reflects her lifelong passion of nature and animals. She is a farmer’s daughter, who progressed to a degree in Zoology and animal behaviour before working in Animal health and welfare for many years. She settled in in the Forest Of Dean in 2003 and draws inspiration from her home surrounded by the forest and wildlife.
Comments of her work have included “Wow! Such talent is rare. Imagination, creativity and love of nature. Terrific.”
Sarah’s first year in 2019 as an artist was hugely successful with her work being shown locally and in London. She was a 2019 David Shepard Wildlife Foundation Wildlife Artist of the Year finalist, awarded Highly Commended in the Newent Art Competition and featured in Creates Magazine “Artists to Watch in 2019” feature.
