Antony Dufort
I am a sculptor, painter and printmaker. For the last 25 years I have been creating large sculptures in bronze, for the Public realm.
I designed the image of Britannia with a trident for the reverse of the official £2.00 currency coin in 2015, for the Royal Mint and sculpted a bust of the late Queen for the Honourable Artillery Company in London. In September 2022 a large sculpture of Mathematical Genius George Boole (The 'grandfather of information technology') was unveiled outside Lincoln railway station. Earlier in 2012 my tribute sculpture to the Miners and Collieries of the Nottinghamshire Coalfields was unveiled on the top of a restored spoil tip at Silverhill Nr. Mansfield. I also created a bronze sculpture 'Fast bowler' for the MCC at Lord's Ground.
Locally I created the sculpture of a miner with pick axe in the Cinderford triangle commissioned by the Town Council and Labour Party to celebrate the Millennium in 2000.
In March 2022 a large relief celebrating the escape of all the miners (and the mine cat) from a devastating underground flood in 1949 at the Waterloo Colliery in Lydbrook, Forest of Dean, was unveiled on the site of the Colliery screens, next to a small lake in restored woodland. It was commissioned by the Royal Forest of Dean Freeminers Association.
I am now concentrating more on painting and small private sculptures and prints as well as occasional portrait commissions. Please see my website for more examples of my work.
