Art by Monique Oliver
Monique creates most of her work by pouring paint from cups, jugs and bowls directly onto a substrate. However, her latest pieces have a foundation of fluid art enhanced with brush work. The result is unique, vibrant and energised abstracts fusing organic shapes with intricate patterning.
Monique has been a professional artist and art educator for 6 years and has shown extensively both within the UK and overseas, in private galleries, public buildings and museums. Shortlisted for the Creates Magazines Artist Prize 2019, last year she was the recipient of funding from Arts Council England. Her work has sold into private collections globally and she is represented by fine art galleries in the UK, France and Asia.
While Monique’s studio is open by appointment all year round this is subject to current government guidelines. Having re-located to a smaller studio in 2020, for the first time she is also opening up her house (located just a few yards from the studio).
She welcomed 240 visitors during the last farOpen studio event, but due to social distancing regulations and visitor volume, this year she is having to operate restricted hours, by appointment only for up to 8 visitors at a time.
While you are welcome to attempt a drop-in during her usual opening hours, please be prepared to wait and/or be asked to book the next available appointment if you haven’t already reserved your slot.
OPEN WEEKENDS ONLY for farOpen 2021:
Saturdays: 3rd & 10th July 11am – 5pm
Sundays: 4th & 11th July 12noon – 5pm
