The selected photographs depict my interest in portraiture and story telling. I like to use metaphors and refer to the known experience, so the viewer can easily connect with the story.
I am a sculptor and a mould maker, living and working in a studio in the Forest of Dean shared with my husband, sculptor and painter, Antony Dufort. I received my master’s degree in sculpture at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Art, Poland. I had a brief period of being art teacher then came to England, where I gained experience in mould making while working at Bronze Age art foundry in London.
Moving to the Forest of Dean allowed me gradually to produce more work which I exhibit at local venues as well as during annual open Studios exhibitions. In 2022 I had a one person show at the 7Q Gallery in Chepstow. For several years, my work has been exhibited at the annual exhibition of the Society of Portrait Sculptors in London.
It's difficult to tell what exactly inspires me. Predominantly the emotional life, but wherever I go, whatever I read, little or big actions, everything has its profound influence on the response I give to a depicted subject, or the choice matter.
I work in soft materials like clay or plasticine which respond easily to my emotion and quick touch. I mould and cast the result in a harder material, like jesmonite, (a polymer plaster) without losing any detail. You can achieve the same effect using harder materials like wood and stone, but they require full focus on the action, and more tools, so I don’t attempt it too often, but I like it very much.
I organise drawing and sculpture workshops, so please contact me if you are interested in joining one.
I am happy to undertake private commissions and to work as a sculpture technician, making moulds and casting sculptures for private clients.
