Frances Warren - Arts in the Marches
In 2004 as a mature student, I joined the Portfolio Course at Hereford College of Art. Since then I have studied many crafts, including blacksmithing, welding, bronze casting, stone carving and glass fusing. These courses have given me an insight into how different materials work and what I can, and cannot, achieve. I now focus on working in stone, glass and steel, making small pieces for the home and larger items for the garden.
In 2008 I started Arts in the Marches, organising garden sculpture exhibitions and various craft workshops and now with local sculptor Glenn Morris I run the Llangarron Stone Carving Group. I am a founder member of Made in Ross, an arts collective based in the Market House in the centre of Ross on Wye, where I exhibit glass work and indoor sculptures. I exhibit garden sculptures at local venues including Canwood Gallery at Checkley and The Court Cupboard near Abergavenny.
