Graham Wilde
I live overlooking the river Severn and see it every day in its changing moods and atmospheres. The openness, light and colour of the river is of endless fascination. My paintings are not scenes but my responses to what I am looking at.
The remains of Severn Trows were visible at Lydney harbour years ago and you could walk onto them.My prints reflect this time before almost all had been washed away and eroded to a few metal lengths and the odd pieces of wood sticking up out of the mud.
Block printing is an unforgiving medium, lacking the flexibility of painting. All my prints are made by hand by burnishing as I have no printing press.
I also have been interested in Byzantine art and have paintings and prints that play with perspective and modern iconography.
Greetings cards are available in the studio.
