Helen Brown
I paint because I love the element of chance, when the unexpected happens, as in life itself. That chance drip of paint and spread of colour, the very thing we think we can control, but mostly it has a life of its own: a moment, a memory, a choice, it spreads, attaches and creates something, sometimes unexpected.
A force beyond the artist I love the process of painting, because to me the end is always, and yet never, in sight, it appears to move further away, and sometimes you go beyond without even knowing it is finished.
