Helen Crawford Textiles and Mixed Media

I studied Fine art and Textiles during teacher training. Later, I completed City and Guilds Embroidery, Parts 1 and 2 at Malvern Hills College and graduated with an HNC in Stitched Textiles at GLOSCAT. My work is inspired by my love for the natural world, and unspoilt environments, around my home at the foot of the Malvern Hills and further afield.
I draw and photograph to record impressions of the atmospheric light and seasonal changes in favourite woodlands, bluebell and hillside vistas, veteran trees and shorelines. In the studio, I create textile landscapes on painted felt and on silk paper, using my palette of hand dyed silk fibres and machine stitch, mixed media and collage. I also make colourful mixed media paintings on paper. I welcome visitors by appointment to view my range of textiles, paintings, giclee prints and cards. Please email for prices and sizes.
I exhibit in local galleries and Open Studio Events during Herefordshire Arts Week, and I have taken part in Crickhowell Open Studios. I have won the People’ Choice Award in the h-Art Open Exhibition 3 times.
