As an artist I like to explore unexpected narrative, juxtaposition, themes of feminism, beauty, love and loss and I like to make sense out of chaos. I am intrigued by the creation of new meaning - creating outcomes which are surprising and often cathartic.
During the pandemic I created a body of work from lovingly collected pieces of collage. At the time this was one of the only mediums I could use due to allergies to paint and solvents. I loved the immediacy of creating these images and the new meanings and humour evoked.
I am now making my own solvent free oil paints and have returned to painting and the joy of expressing myself through colour and composition. I am interested in the layering of old paintings, the old masters and creating something new from these pieces of our history. Using collage, paint and sometimes words I enjoy the juxtaposition of placing the old against the new.
