Kate Baugh Ceramics
My love of pottery started when I was at school. I wanted to use clay and having none available I dug clay from our garden to make pots and sculptures. College allowed me to explore working with earth, fire and water and facing the many challenges.
Now my pots are made from stoneware, earthenware or porcelain clay. They are decorated with slip and underglaze colours influenced by abstract artists (the vibrant colours of Albert Irvin, Miro’s use of line and shape) and the seasonal colours & forms of the surrounding forest and landscape.
As a member of the pottery collective Clay Hill Potters I have been able to attend workshops by eminent potters and share skills with other potters which has enabled me to further develop my work and enrich my skills and knowledge.
