PAINTING
Landscape painting - Our local countryside of the Forest, the Wye Valley, and the Black Mountains is infinitely inspiring, with its hills and mountains, rivers and streams, old buildings, and the clear light and wide skies. I rely on sketches and photographs taken in all weathers and finish the work in my studio, using acrylics, watercolours, pastels or oils.
Portrait painting - As a professional portrait painter I have had commissions from all parts of the world. I work either from life or from good quality photographs, and aim to capture character and story as well as likeness.
POTTERY
I specialise in wheel-thrown domestic and decorative stoneware, and produce a wide range of bowls, jugs, platters, cheese bakers, teapots and much more. These are glazed with celadons and the interactive glazes made in my workshop from natural minerals, and slip glazes made from the many local clays in our area. I decorate with wax and leaf resists, sgraffitto, and brushwork.
