Mandy Ollero
I make handbuilt ceramics at home in Newnham and nearby Clay Hill Pottery. I discovered a love of ceramics not long before the pandemic and spent many hours during lockdown experimenting with clay.
My pots are stoneware and high fired for durability. I make a variety of vessels using slabs, coiling or kurinuki (carving from a block of clay). I often apply slip decoration with paper resist to create graphic or abstract designs. After bisque firing, I enjoy trying different combinations and layering of glazes and oxides. Each piece out of the kiln is unique and informs the next shape or form I feel inspired to make next.
