Myra Fricker
I’m a glass artist. I layer vibrant coloured pieces of glass into the kiln, producing new shades and patterns. I may sandwich in copper wire to 'draw' in features, people, animals. My work is inspired by what I see around me, the animals, trees, and landscapes of this beautiful world. I like to create movement, sometimes making panels of glass, which positioned together give a 3D effect. I am developing my skill at Reusche glass painting which I incorporate into kiln formed glass.
I aspire to my work conveying emotions, a moment of joy, the delight of being caught in a summer shower, the awe of stargazing, the freedom in a galloping herd.
Pictures can be wall mounted, or shown on a stand or window, some find a summer home in a garden. All live best though where they catch the changing light that animates them.
I have a degree in Fine Art from the University of East London and consider myself a mixed media artist. However, I've learnt the skills of kiln formed glass, Reusche glass painting, and wire work subsequently through evening classes, short courses and a large dose of trial and error.
My ability to draw has always been a bonus.
I love the versatility of glass and always have new ideas, it is an amazing medium for creating movement and the colours are beautiful.
