Two Tinkers
Two Tinkers offer a very eclectic mix of work, we like to follow our inspiration without being constrained to one medium.
About Esther
I have always had a passion for making, learning as I go through trial and error building on my experience over time. I have been carving spoons, small bowls and buttons among other items from greenwood for a number of years. Recently I learnt to forge and now make quirky and unusual hooks and fireside pokers from scrap metal that I collect whilst out walking giving it a new and useful purpose. I leave all the marks of age and hammer blows so as to not conceal the origin and malleability of the raw material. At about the same time I also taught myself leatherwork and have really enjoyed making handbags and various other accessories from Italian vegetable tanned leathers.
I don't work to plans or patterns but like to follow the direction of the grain of the wood, the pitting in an old bar of iron or a natural crease in a hide. You may also find textiles, silverwork, paintings and occasionally ceramics in this ever changing array of work.
About Tim
At the other end of our garden to the forge is my tiny brewery. I brew a variety of beers in traditional British and Belgian styles. I'm interested in exploring what is possible within those styles rather than trying to change or improve them. The source of ingredients is important too, most come from within 40 miles and we grow some of the hops ourselves. We sell through local independent shops and markets.
Together Two Tinkers make a small living from all their combined creations.
