Sue Bamford Art
I have lived in the beautiful Forest of Dean since 2016. Much of my artwork develops from my long held interest in the natural world. While walking in the forest I look at colours, textures, and shapes in the landscapes. These become starting points for my work.
I grew up in South-west England, and also spent many years living in Ireland. All these places, the impact of the changing seasons on landscapes, and the natural world, have influenced and inspired my work.
Experimental work, sketches and photographs gathered in my notebooks are used for development of final images. More figurative work results from my long-term interest in watching and photographing birds. I use a variety of media, including acrylic, gouache, oil pastel, collage, ink, watercolour and charcoal. I love to experiment with different combinations of media, and enjoy making unexpected and accidental discoveries.
In recent years I have developed an interest in printmaking, particularly lino cut and monoprinting.
